The Explorer TS takes everything we love about the Explorer and adds MORE. The biggest difference between the Explorer TS vs the standard Explorer is that the TS comes standard with twin-screw (TS) axles or tandem axles as we like to call it. With tandem-axles you are able to add more towing capacity and payload capacity. With an extra 20,000 lbs of rear axle, the Explorer TS can tow up to 30,000 lbs!
The Explorer TS is built on one of our favorite chassis, the NEW Freightliner Cascadia P5 116 chassis, mated with the Detroit Diesel DD13 Engine with 525hp and 1,850 ft lb. of torque. We ordered this one with the Detroit DT12 12 Speed Automated Manual Transmission which is our favorite transmission for towing performance. This is a beast of a powertrain that can handle anything you throw at it. It also has the Detroit Safety Assurance collision mitigation system, that features lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and adaptive brake assistance.
The Explorer TS sits at 42' in total length, and has one floorplan for 2027 so far, the 42RB. Which is a direct copy of the 40ERB Explorer floorplan, just with 2 feet more living space in the bathroom and bedroom areas. This extra 2 feet allowed room for the tandem axles, while keeping close to the same storage space underneath!
Being one of our favorite builds, we picked over $38,000 in options on this one. A few of the major options include:
- Theater Seating in lieu of a Sofa Sleeper– A personal favorite of ours. The theater seats are the most comfortable seats for Explorer. With the king bed, and dinette sleeper, there is room to sleep up to 3 people.
- Flat Panel Wainscoting with Padded Walls – An interior finish that was reserved for the Renegade XL and Classic for years! It’s now available in the Explorer, and of course we had to order it on this one.
- Lithium Battery Upgrades – We ordered this unit with the most amount of batteries we can get. This gives you (4) 270-amp hour lithium batteries over the single AGM battery. We wouldn’t order a Explorer without this package!
- (4) 200-Watt Solar Panel Package – We know that if you are interested in a Explorer, you are also interested in boondocking! We ordered this coach with 800 Watts of solar in conjunction with Lithium to give you the ultimate performance we can get in the Explorer.
- Additional 3,000-Watt Inverter Used to Run One A/C – This may very well be our favorite option on any coach we offer. This option allows you to run one air conditioner solely on battery power! This is a great feature for quiet hours at an RV park, or while you are going down the road, being able to keep the coach cool without running your generator! This is also great for pet lovers. Keep your pets cool all the time with this option.
- Electric Radiant Floor Heat– This is an absolute must have option. Nothing better than waking up in the morning with warm tile. Also helps in winter use for 4 seasons traveling.
- Flo-Jet Macerator – We finally have this on the Explorer! This is the best option for dumping your black and gray tank. This macerator hose makes dumping your tanks a much nicer experience. This allows you to pump the waste and have a much more sanitary solution.
